David Hicks – Chief Executive
Graduated with a degree in Business Studies in 1976, worked for a year in security printing, then joined the voluntary sector – celebrating 36 years in charities in 2013. After 10 years with The Children’s Society he moved through senior fundraising roles in three other ‘people’ charities (involved in issues of deafness, physical disability and care for elderly people), and has been CEO of BTBS since 1994. In 2012, David became a Liveryman of the Stationers’ Company; he is currently a trustee of the Stationers’ Foundation and of the Matthew Hodder Charitable Trust.
Glenda Barnard – Housing and Welfare Manager
Graduated with a degree in Humanities in 1990 and subsequently trained as a solicitor, but did not pursue this as a career, instead working in Further Education as a student adviser and grants manager at West Herts College and then Hertfordshire Library Service. For the last 8 years has worked in managerial roles in local charities, setting up a day centre for homeless people and leading a “back to work” project for people with disabilities and/or health issues. She joined BTBS in June 2011.
Nicki Cattle – Finance and Administration Manager
Nicki is ACCA qualified having become a member of the association in 2014 and also has a degree in Applied Accountancy. She is a busy mum of two small children so currently works part time. Nicki joined the organisation in April 2016 having decided to look for a more local job with less hours after working for the YMCA for 15 years.
