Tenancies are long-term and tend to suit residents who are older, normally over 40. For further details please call Glenda on 01923 263128 or email [email protected] Dickinson House, the original almshouse, opened in 1846 The housing is set in attractive grounds At the entrance to The Retreat, two bungalows which were part of the first phase of re-development in 1998 Dillon Lodge, the original gatehouse to The Retreat, nowused as part of our housing, a two-bedroomed house The Retreat is set in five acres of pleasant grounds. Despite its proximity to London (25 minutes by train to Euston) and with good access to the M25, it is peaceful and feels both rural and secluded. The estate consists of: Eight bed-sit bungalows: six are let to residents, one is used in partnership with PenguinRandomHouse, providing accommodation for young people undertaking work experience placements, and one is a Guest Bungalow for friends and relatives of residents, and occasionally short-term emergency housing. The original Victorian Almshouse, Dickinson House, is still very much in use, offering six one-bed houses, suitable for either single people or couples, plus one two-bed house, complemented by a further two-bed property, Dillon Lodge, the original gate-house to the estate. The rest of the estate comprises ten one-bed, two two-bed bungalows, four one-bed townhouses, and four one-bed flats.
